Happy New Year!
Do you make New Year’s Resolutions? I do. Always have. I love new beginnings. That why I thought I would share a few verses about newness as my New Year’s blog. Let them encourage you. Regardless of whether you make or keep New Year’s Resolutions, the important thing for 2012 is the new life you have in and through Christ. Make this a focus of the coming year and I am confident that you will experience “being transformed into [Jesus’] likeness with ever-increasing glory” (2 Cor.2:18b).
Lamentations 3:22-23
“Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail.
they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”
Ephesians 4:22-24
“You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”
Ezekiel 36:26
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”
Romans 6:4
“We were therefore buried with him thought baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”
Psalm 96:1
“Sing to the LORD a new song;
sing to the LORD, all the earth.”
Acts 5:19-20
“But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail and brought them out. “Go, stand in the temple courts,” he said, “and tell the people the full message of this new life.””
2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”
Do any of these verses stand out to you? Is the Lord speaking to you through one (or more) of them? If so, please consider writing it out and putting it somewhere that you will see regularly through 2012. Meditate on, pray through, and live out the words of the verse in 2012 and God will be glorified through you!
